Bricklayers work with a variety of tools, such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and levels, to lay and spread mortar, cut and shape masonry materials, and align and plumb the structure. They may work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial construction sites, and may specialize in areas such as decorative brickwork, restoration of historic structures, or refractory work for high-temperature applications. Bricklayers must have a good understanding of building codes and safety regulations, as well as a high level of physical strength and endurance to handle the heavy materials and repetitive motions required in their work.
